A New Chapter for Ohana

Over the past few months, a series of life events have offered clarity and reminded all of us at Ohana about the importance of simplicity, balance, and living in alignment of values. As a result, we’ve made the decision to downsize Ohana in order to create more space for rest, focus, and intentional living.
As part of this transition, the beautiful Ms. Dena and Tawney will be moving on to independently rent rooms at other locations. While they’ll no longer be practicing under our roof, they are continuing their massage therapy work and will remain accessible to you. We’ve included their updated contact information below so you can continue care with them, if you wish.

Though this is a bittersweet change, we are proud of the community we’ve built together — a space rooted in healing, presence, and connection. We are so grateful for your continued support, and we’re excited for what lies ahead, both for Ohana and for Tawney and Dena as they venture out on their new paths.
Thank you for being part of our journey. If you have any questions or want help connecting with a therapist, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Now that we got the formal stuff out of the way, time for my (Paula) real talk 😉
These last couple weeks, as we’ve figured all this out, have been a whirlwind. Like all changes, it’s exciting and scary at the same time.
Of course, there’s all the normal feelings around the ending of something and the beginning of another thing. Not to mention change can be heavy. But I don’t have regrets or hard feelings about this.
Tawney and Dena are such phenomenal women, who are going to continue to do such fantastic things in the world. They don’t need an employment structure to do so. I really encourage you to continue working with them. They both have such an amazing touch and they are sooo dedicated to client care. It's truly been an honor to have them at Ohana. I will even share notices of their adventures on occasion.
As for me, I’ve been working very hard for a very long time. I’m looking forward to a slower pace. Don’t get me wrong, I love providing client care and have no intention of stepping away from that any time soon. But seeing clients and running a business and managing people is a lot for one person to do, especially when life keeps happening. I like to think of this transition as being given a gift. One that allows me to be able to focus on my journey again and my skillset. I don’t intend to squander that.
I got introduced to the quote at the top of the page during a Self Compassion Retreat a couple months ago. It seemed incredibly relevant for the content of this email. Some change we choose, and some change we allow, and some change is non-negotiable. Not to change is death in one way or another.
Our goal is to embrace change and use it to allow us to fully live our lives.
With warmth and gratitude,
Paula VanBaalen
